~ It's beginning to look a lot like ....

... winter!
Yup, winter!
On Monday we had an ice storm.

Ice everywhere ....

And on Tuesday we had a snowstorm.
Nothing drastic ....
We got around 3.5 inches of the white stuff.
It was wet ... and heavy!
My arms are sore and my back is killing me from shoveling.
How can something so annoying be so photogenic?

The local weather forecast is for another storm ...
potentially a Nor'easter ...
for Saturday afternoon into Sunday!
Just what I need this time of the year.

I have barely put a dent in my Christmas shopping.
Anyway, I stayed in during these two storms
and caught up with wrapping what stuff I had bought
and decorated.
The tree is up ...
and the stockings are hung.
I didn't go overboard with the decorations this year.
And I'm okay with that.
But I did put up a few trinkets.

Today I went shopping.
Got about another 40% of it done.
Tonight I'll wrap what I picked up today ....
and hopefully finish up the pocketbook I am crocheting.
And maybe have a cup of vanilla eggnog
with a splash of Amaretto.

Would you care to join me?

PS  If you haven't already, you need to head over to see
Kelly and her awesome holiday shots!

  1. Sounds like you're way ahead of me with the Christmas shopping. Your pictures are so pretty and capture the freezing temps perfectly. Eggnog and Amaretto sounds wonderful! Stay warm.

  2. Not a fan of eggnog, but I'll have a mug of "fancy" hot chocolate and join you. It is frigid here in the mitten state, which is expected. I've shoveled twice this week as we've gotten over 7 inches of snow in the last 3 days. I think we're in for the same storm you might be in for this weekend as well and I've barely started my shopping!
    Merry Christmas!

  7. You did get a lot of ice! Wow! It does look so pretty but it can be dangerous and very inconvenient, too. We usually get a lot of ice here in SE Missouri and it's not very fun!

  9. Check out that fabulous stop-action snow - wow! Snow tickles that inner-child, ice bitch-slaps us back to reality. I find your decorations charming and I suspect the less is more approach to decorating is in my near future.

  12. Boy, you all got slammed with the ice and the snow. All we got here was the ice and it was miserable. I do not like ICE! Hope you all didm’t lose electricity. You pictures captured the feel of the storms aftermath so well. Beautiful.

  17. Heavy snow is the pits! I hope you've settled down from shoveling. Each time I have a lot to move I figure I've earned a day off from the gym.
As for joining you in that Ameretto eggnog. Um. Yum.
Lovely snow pics, for something that is so annoying, it is beautiful. Goes really nicely with your backdrop here too.
