~ It's Friday ....

... and guess what that means?
Woot-woot!
It's Random 5 Friday!!!!!
Let's get random.

1.  I'm trying to become a morning person again.  So far, it isn't going so well.
I'm sleeping until ... are you ready for this ... 10/10:30.
Dang!
Maybe once the weather gets warmer I'll get up and start walking again.
It's just been so dang cold and it makes it hard to get my arse out of bed.

2.  When I sleep until 10/10:30 I'm kinda irritated  pissed at myself.
I feel like I've wasted the morning and I feel like I have to rush
through the day.
I really have to change that.

3.  I have to get all the craft ideas out of my head and bring them to life.
What am I waiting for?   An invitation?
From who?
The Craft Fairy???
Does anyone else do that or is it just me?
Geesh!

4.  Can you believe that today is the last day of January?
Can I say "WTF"????

5.  Can I also say that I'm glad to see January in the rearview mirror?
It's not that January was super stormy.  We had 5 snow "storms" this month.
I had to use the snow blower for 2 and the other 3 I got away with shoveling.
If we can get through February with minimal snow I'll be happy.
With that said ..
they are predicting a storm for Wednesday.
Bleh!

I wanted to thank all the new friends I made at the Grow Your Blog party last weekend.
I really appreciate all the kind words and pats on the back that were given!

So, on Friday I was feeling a bit funky all day.
One of those things where I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
Woke up Saturday and I had a full blown cold.  Or did I have the flu?
I wasn't coughing.
I just had a stuffed up nose ... a runny nose ... scratchy throat ...
aches and pains.
So, was that the flu?  Or a cold?
Anyway, I wasn't the only one who woke up that way ...
nah-uh ...
Gumby had it, too!
So we spent the weekend just chillin'.

We napped ...

We had story time ...

We sipped tea with honey and lemon ...

And Gumby insisted that I put some Vicks Vapor Rub on him ...
He wasn't coughing ... but he insisted on having it rubbed on his chest.
He just loved that stuff ...
couldn't get enough of it!!
I fear he may be addicted!

It took until Wednesday to start feeling better
but we're both back to our ole' selves.

Uh.....gotta go.
I smell Vicks Vapor Rub!

  1. Wow - 10am, I can't remember the last time I was able to sleep that late. Hahahaha - I remember Gumby. I hope you and he are feeling all better!

  2. Oh Diane...I would give anything to sleep until 10am. And let's see some of those crafty ideas. I know what you mean, though. Just not enough time, and if there were more hours in a day, we'd be that much more behind, because we would try to pack more stuff in. Oh well. Glad you and Gumby are feeling better. Have a great weekend! Aloha

  4. Haha, love the Gumby shots! So fun. I'm glad you are feeling better! Sleep is the best thing when you are trying to recover. I used to be like you and sleep in, but now I am more of a morning person. The chickens won't let me sleep in anyway! ;)

  6. Hope you and Gumby are feeling better! :-) I tend to sleep late on the weekends, and then i regret the time i spent in bed. I have craft artsy ideas in my head, too, that I need to act on. Have a great weekend!

  7. with Gumby you have got to be feeling better very soon. right? i have a question - but i guess being sick you have a reason for sleep so late. but is that normally how late you sleep? if i got to bed at 10 pm i get up 7 am easily. & feel great ... so i work from there ... 8 to 9 hours of sleep is what my body wants & needs to work right?? it is a true science. i have always loved my sleep & don't feel good when i don't sleep. when the hubby snores it kills my sleep pattern. but i am amazed by what i can get done when i don't sleep. i have figured that out too - since i got married. ha. ha!! 8. Maybe we should prod and poke each other about the craft/making things...noooo...not really. I feel guilty enough as it is. I finished a quilt top 2/3 or 4 weeks ago and just cannot get motivated into making a backing. I did make/finish three potholders. Usually, I cannot wait to start on something and here I sit...reading blogs.

  9. Lmao!! Oh my! My boys think I'm a loon when I burst out laughing at my phone. Oh Gumby. I love you. Here ARE worse things than Vicks! I can't imagine sleeping til 10 D. Unless I was sick-and sorry I didn't know you were. Glad your feeling better. Xo

  11. Hi there! I found your beautiful blog via the 'Grow Your Blog' event and I thoroughly enjoyed scrolling through your posts. This one in particular gave me the giggles :) I do hope you're feeling much better! I am now happily following along and I look forward to visiting again. Hugs to you!

  12. You have cheer even when chatting about a cold or flu! I love your sense of humor so even with the GYB party past, I will be back to visit.

I no longer worry or feel bad about my rising time so try not to beat yourself up about it. After all, haven't we earned that right? . I love setting the alarm only once a week; that's for Bible Study.

  13. Boy you do sleep in. I thought that getting up at 7:00 was sleeping in. I don't think I could stay in bed that long.
So many are ready for January to be over. It was a mild one here but went out with a lovely snow storm (didn't last long) but boy was it coming down for a few hours.
So sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. You and Gumby did the right thing and it looks like you are both on the mend.

  23. I wish I could sleep in that much. I was never a morning person until I started working out at 5:30 in the morning. I had to open up the Jazzercise place which made me accountable to be there and forced me to become a morning person and exercise person. Now I can't sleep past 7 if it killed me. I really enjoy seeing the sun rise, in the spring and summer, not so much this winter....brrrrr.....

  24. Love the pics. :0) Sorry you've been unwell but glad to hear your feeling better. Got to love Vicks Vapor Rub.

  26. It's been eons since I've used Vick's Vapor Rub!!! Tell Gumby to get his hand out of the nostril!!! My goodness. LOLOL
Hope everyone is feeling better now.

And as for sleeping in...I see there is nothing wrong with that...one who has kids needs all the rest time they can get!!!

  27. And I thought I was not a morning person! I'm up by 7:30 at the latest every morning but I really still feel like I'm behind myself all day, so many things I want to accomplish! So glad you and Gumvy are feeling better!

  28. LOL! Not about the flu or cold you had, but I do love your sense of humor and your photos with Gumby. I'm happy you are feeling better now. I am up every morning by 8 a.m.,except when I'm not. ;-) I think the cold does keep one wanting blankies and warmth rather than getting up and putting feet on a cold floor and having to shuffle along to get tea and breakfast. We had a lot of snow today and though I did not feel good, I went out and played in it. :D I have tons of crafty ideas in my head and I fear I will never get them all out and done. Today I made some "mini chocolates" for Kettle and I have no idea if they will have come out or not. Find out in a few more hours when they should be dry if I've done something good or made tiny things that should have looked like chocolate but instead came out like little bunny drops. Blessings and hope you stay well, Bird

  31. I have more craft projects than I have time for. I also find myself less motivated when the sun isn't out as much. January was 6 months long! Glad to see it gone. thank you once again for making me laugh!

  32. Thank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
