~ Let's Meditate .....

... and I found the perfect spot to do this.

I was out and about ... just me and my "friend" ... and came across this porch.
Sigh!
It looked so inviting ... so peaceful.
I thought "What a great place to just sit and meditate."
It even has the items used for meditation tucked in the corner.
How convenient!
So, let's quietly head onto the porch and grab a chair and sit and meditate on our
Random 5 Friday!

1.  I had a much better week.  I am coming down from my pity party and ...
well ... I am starting to think about my lessons learned from this lost friendship.
And there are a few many.  But I won't get into them now.

"The moment you feel like you have to prove your worth to someone
is the moment to absolutely and utterly walk away."
~ Alysia Harris

2.  I had my physical on Wednesday ... my annual "look under the hood".
Physically, I am doing well ... for my age (snort!).
I had a Bone Density Scan and Doc says I have
a very very very mild case of osteoporosis ... nothing to worry about ...
right now.
So, I have to stock up on yogurt ... discipline myself to take my calcium pills ...
and sadly I will have to put away my stripper pole.
Can't take a chance of falling off it and breaking a bone.
Just kidding!!!
I did speak to Doc about my state of mind ... and with winter just around the corner
(brrrrrr......shiver me timbers!) I wasn't sure if last season's
sadness was just a fluke or if I really do have SAD.
So, we decided to go forward with medication on a trial basis.
I'm fine with that.
If it works ... yippee!!!
If it doesn't ... well, we'll discuss that if we get there.

"Eat healthily, sleep well, breathe deeply, move harmoniously."
~ Jean Pierre Barrel

3.  Isn't October a beautiful month?
Absofrigginlutely beautiful.
Its crispness.  Its colors.  Its smells.  Its sounds.

"There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on
and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings as October."
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

4.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Most of us probably know someone who has battled/is battling with this monster.
I had been neglecting getting a yearly mammogram.
The last time I had one was ... ummmm ... about 8 years ago!
But this year I decided to stop being a wimp and git 'er done!
I did.
I'm fine.
So, get out there and get those ta-tas squished ... it only smarts for a second.

"When life kicks you, let it kick you forward."
~ Kay Yow

5.  I need to get my groove back.
I need to start picking up the things that I used to enjoy.
Reading.  Photography.  Knitting.  Crocheting.  Crafting.
I need to pull out all of my craft paraphernalia and give myself
a shot in the arm and just craft my little butt off.
Stop stressing.  Start crafting.
Yup!  Imma gonna do that.

"Give your stress wings and let it fly away." ~ Terri Guillemets

Alrighty then!
Let's start meditating ...

Ohhhmmmmmmmm!

  1. brilliant post, I wonder if there isn't something in the air, I had a slip and slide summer into fall, not at all like me, friends and family too so out of character for all of us. I like your sense of humour and enjoyed being here. I hope you find your groove soon...it is uncomfortable loosing it.

  3. I'm glad you're feeling better, and I'm glad you've had your physical check-ups. I hope the medication helps. I take medication for depression, and I am grateful for the help it provides me.

That is a perfect place for meditation! I can imagine sitting there in peace.

  7. I love all the quotes that you've chosen for each of your random 5! They are fantastically educational. I got that freaking squishing the "ta-tas" out of me, and it hurt for a few days..Not a fun thing to do, but it has to be done.

You found the perfect porch for meditation, so pretty!

  10. Yes...find the things that you love and start doing them again. I have cysts in my left breast so I am faithful about getting that yearly mammogram done. I want to stay on top of it.

  12. I too lost my mom to cancer. We were told 3 - 6 months and instead we had 6 weeks. It has been almost 13 years now and I still am not over the shock of how fast it was. I realize now that it is OK-there are some things we never get over. We live with it, but we do not get over it.

I know what this is like. Any questions or you just want to rant, rage and cry... don't hesitate to contact me. You can contact me by email from this post or my blog has a contact me button. I will respond,

  13. So happy to read this post Diane -- you took the bull by the horns and crawled out of your funk. Love!
And I also love that quote "The moment you feel like you have to prove your worth to someone
is the moment to absolutely and utterly walk away."
    ~ Alysia Harris

Makes me feel better about a recent thing I did that I have been obsessing about. Thank you! xo

  16. That porch would be a great place just to sit and perhaps crochet. I can understand where you're at with loosing a "friend" as I lost the only sister I had this spring under similar circumstances. Time has helped me as I am sure it will help you too.

  17. LMAO!! stripper pole? you kill me! SO glad you went to your Dr. and things are ok....REALLY glad about the meds...REALLY REALLY glad. And that quote by Alysia Harris....perfect. October IS a beautiful month...only when it's NOT 86* and wearing flip flops! Love ya D.

  18. I could identify with a couple of these...I need to sew my butt off like you need to do crafts...I need to get a mammogram...I haven't had one in a few years, but it has not been 8....more like 3 or 4....and I have an aunt and a sister who had breast cancer. So, I need to just go do it.

  19. whew! for a minute I thought you were serious about getting rid of the stripper pole! [wink wink!]

Glad you are good under the hood, and hey, if the meds work and don't cause 3 pages of possible side effects, I'd say the quote "better living through drugs" might fit just fine. Speaking of quote - I like the ones you included.

  20. You had me laughing with the whole stripper pole comment. That porch does look like the perfect place to meditate. Or to just daydream the day away. I just took up a knitting project myself. I'm not that great at it but Im enjoying it.

    Hugs~

  21. I'm glad you are feeling better and have been checked out AOK! I force myself to go out of doors for at least 20 minutes 5-7 days a week in the winter. Mostly I hate every minute of it but I feel so wonderful when I get back inside! It is refreshing to be able to walk outdoors in nature or on the beach or even just around the block.

  22. That porch does look very inviting! Glad the bones are still in pretty good shape. At my ripe old age, I haven't lost any height yet. For that, I am grateful. I think picking up a crafty habit is good for the psyche. I am doing quite a bit of crocheting lately and really enjoying it.

  23. What a lovely porch and yes, it does look inviting. TFS.
    Have a wonderful week.
    Hugs,

  24. Great post Diane. And what a great porch to just sit!!! Yes, get the crafty mojo going for the winter months ahead. That may just be the "drug" that you need to ward off SAD. Mother Nature, to me, is the best medicine. Even in the cold, dark days of winter. The snow can be beautiful! And when it is falling in the dark of night, it is so very peaceful. That's when I like to walk and contemplate what the Universe has to offer. For there is much more than we could ever hope for, if we tune in! Aloha Friend.

  25. Hi Dianne ~~ I liked your five and will choose the "a very very very mild case of osteoporsis ... " to zero in on. Mrs. Jim and I both have osteopenia. Each of our doctors has us taking 1500-1800 units of Calcium and Vitamin D3 2000 mgs. Besides that I am on Prolia. In December 2011 I developed a crushed vertabrae. I have had it repaired by a bone graft cement injection which has to be done while the break is fresh.
