~ "Only from the heart ....

.... can you touch the sky."
~ Rumi

Most of the trees are bare.
Some still have a few leaves clinging on until the last possible moment.
And then the leaves fall from the branches and scurry along ....
like children jumping from their parents' arms to run and play.
This week it has been colder than a witch's you-know-what!!
30 degrees during the day and it got down to 15 degrees at night
 .... uhhh excuse me, Mother Nature
but it's only November .... not January/February!
But last week we were blessed with 60+ degree weather.
I went out for a walk.  Not far.  Actually, just across the street.
There's a piece of land that belongs to the town.
Most of it is weeds.
I've walked by there hundreds of times .... but this time I noticed
the milkweed pods.

I stayed in this area for the longest time .... completely captivated
by the beauty of these pods releasing their seeds.
I've seen these fuzzy things floating around
but I just didn't realize what they were.

**sigh**
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for my Random 5
1.  Christmas is in 39 days!
SHUT.THE.FRONT.DOOR.
Let the stressing begin.
2.  I went to Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts this week.
I had three 60% off coupons, one 50% off coupon and two 40% off coupons ...
they let me use them all in one transaction!   Score!!!!!!
3.  I started to crochet again .... making a handbag for my niece-in-law for Christmas.
4.  I refuse to put up any Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving.
Some years I go crazy .... some years I put up as little as I can get away with.
And then I want the decorations down by New Year's Day!
Wonder what I'll feel like this year?  Hhhhmmmm!
5.  Tom has been asking me what I want for Christmas.
Specifically camera stuff.
My mind is a blank.
What would be on your "Wish List"?
Checking it twice.
  1. Christmas has never been the same since my kids grew up and moved out -- we have a little 2 1/2 foot tree I put up and that's about it.
    Camera stuff? A new lens is always a good choice. :)
  5. i refuse to stress about Christmas. I do small handcrafted gifts or i make gifts myself. I would rather not celebrate at all than have there be stress.
  6. Oh I love a piece of land covered with weeds you have captured the best part beautifully. Christmas I refuse to think that far ahead even though I am knitting up a storm. Take care. B
  17. What pretty shots of the milkweed pods. So feathery looking.
    Well I agree I don't put out Christmas until after Thanksgiving. - I too just went to JoAnn's and spent some money on some new Christmas decorations. Also a local antique/craft type store where more Christmas goodies were purchased. Can't wait to put them out now.
  18. Great shots. I don't decorate until after Thanksgiving, too and then it usually comes down right after Christmas depending on if I am tired of it and usually am.
  19. Your pictures are gorgeous! I take the holidays one at a time, just finished with fall, so Christmas won't be until at least the first week in December. I wish our JoAnn and Michaels would allow us to use more than one coupon. Great deal!!
  20. Those milkweed pods are really pretty! You got some great photos of them to share with us. Our weather has been pretty wacky lately too. It was 78 degrees on Sunday! But now it's cold again. I guess that's what I get for living in Missouri!
  21. Oh how I loved catching the milkweed pods as a young girl. You captured them so beautifully! Your weather sounds like my weather. Gorgeous last week. In the upper 60's. Then woke up to snow on Sat. Still snowing on Sunday. Pretty yesterday, cold today and going to be more of the same. I am trying to hold off decorating until after Thanksgiving also. I love Thanksgiving, but it is a little late this year. May give in and start on the living room.
    hugs,
    Jann
